Get Involved Locally This New Year
Looking for a meaningful way to start the year? These two incredible organizations are always looking for helping hands, donations, and community support.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a Lake Oconee-based nonprofit dedicated to assisting the physically impaired, elderly, and severely impoverished residents of Greene and Putnam Counties.
Their work includes:
Providing beds for children
Repairing homes with critical issues
Fixing or replacing vehicles so families, especially single mothers, can safely get to work, school, and medical appointments.
For decades, Putnam Christian Outreach has served Lake Country with compassion and care, guided by its mission:
“Sharing God’s love by empowering our community through compassionate care.”
PCO supports neighbors through:
Food for Friends pantry & monthly food distributions
Backpack Ministry, providing weekend meals for local students
Client Services, offering help with utilities, prescriptions, clothing, and emergency needs
A Thrift Store where every purchase directly supports outreach programs
Volunteers are the heart of PCO, and there are countless ways to get involved—from sorting donations to helping pack backpacks or assisting in the store.
