Good morning!

There is a moment every summer when the season stops warming up and starts really swinging, and friends, we have arrived. This week, The Dining Room in Madison throws its doors back open after its annual summer break (tonight, if you are quick with a reservation). Tomorrow night, the legendary Swingin' Medallions turn Downtown Greensboro into a beach music dance floor. And Monday morning, St. Mary's breaks ground on a pavilion that will shape health care at the lake for generations.

That is the rhythm of this issue: things opening, things beginning, things worth showing up for. And because the best summers run on a little planning too, we have the folks who keep it all humming behind the scenes: from the home and lawn pros who buy back your Saturdays to the cheer coaches getting our kids ready for the school year ahead.

So pour the coffee, scroll on, and find your spot in the swing of things.

Your First Summer at the Lake Should Not Come With a To-Do List

Picture a family spending their very first summer in their new lake home. The boat is in the water, the grandkids have claimed their bedrooms, and every weekend feels like the reason they bought the place. But somewhere between the sunset cruises and the dock cannonballs, the questions start creeping in. Who handles the pest control out here? Is that dock board getting worse? Should the HVAC get a once-over before the Georgia heat really settles in?

And the bigger question, the one that follows them all summer: what happens to this house when we leave at the end of August?

This is exactly the moment to meet Jayson Kimsey.

Jayson is the Owner/Operator of Property Stewards Lake Oconee, and proactive care is the whole point of what he does. His team gets to know your home now, while you are here, coordinating pest control, dock repairs, HVAC service, and the seasonal upkeep that keeps small issues from becoming expensive ones. They handle vendor scheduling and oversight so you are not spending your first lake summer collecting contractor phone numbers.

Then comes the part that lets you drive away in peace. Once you head home in August, Property Stewards stays. Routine inspections, storm prep and follow-up, security checks, and a trusted local presence keeping watch, so the house you fell in love with this summer is exactly as you left it when you return. And when you do come back, they will have it ready before you pull in the driveway.

Your lake home should serve you, not the other way around.

Give Jayson a call at 706-949-5937 or visit Property Stewards Lake Oconee to start the conversation.

The Dining Room Is Back - Starting Tonight

146 E Washington Street, Madison

Madison's fine dining crown jewel has been dark for its annual summer break, and the wait ends tonight. The Dining Room reopens this evening, July 16, in that beautifully restored 19th-century building on Washington Street.

What you are in for: a seasonal menu that evolves weekly around the freshest ingredients from regional farms, à la carte, or the three- or four-course prix fixe Chef's menu if you would rather surrender to the journey. Every dish can be paired from their award-winning wine list, curated by their master sommelier.

Open Thursday through Saturday evenings, 5:30 to last seating at 8:30. Walk-ins welcome as space allows, but after a summer away, those tables will go fast.

Your Weekend, Already Planned on the Blog

Every week we put together your Weekend Events Guide at Lake Oconee, and this weekend it is doing some heavy lifting. Consider this your cheat sheet.

Friday night, Downtown Greensboro turns into a dance floor. The legendary Swingin' Medallions bring their iconic beach music to Main Street for Downtown Music Weekend - grab dinner downtown, then shag the night away under the summer sky. This is one of the South's favorite live music traditions, and it is happening right in our hometown.

Saturday, ease into the morning at the Lake Oconee Farmers Market, where Cafe du Papa will be rolling with fresh favorites. Then keep the music going with Blake Robert playing live at The Yesterday Cafe, a little live soundtrack with your meat-and-three never hurt anybody.

And that is just the highlight reel. The full guide has everything happening around the lake, updated every week: art, live music, family fun, and more. One scroll and your weekend plans itself.

C&M Lawncare

Take Mowing Off Your Summer To-Do List

Saturday mornings at the lake are for coffee on the dock, not wrestling a mower in ninety-degree heat. It might be time to outsource your lawncare - to a professional. Chris Watson founded C&M Lawncare on a childhood love of mowing his grandmother's yard, and more than twenty years later, his locally owned crew keeps yards across the Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair areas looking their best. From precision mowing, trimming, and edging to landscaping, mulching, sod, and seasonal cleanup, C&M handles it all with a simple promise: beautiful lawns, honest prices. Your weekends are too short to spend behind a mower.

St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital

Be There When the Shovels Hit the Dirt

Some events entertain us. This one will shape the next generation of life at the lake. On Monday, July 20 at 11 AM, St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital breaks ground on the St. Mary's Good Samaritan Pavilion, a significant investment in the future of health care for Greene County and the entire Lake Country region, and the whole community is invited to witness it.

The new pavilion is designed to expand access to high-level care and enhance the patient experience, reflecting St. Mary's ongoing commitment to meeting the growing needs of our region while keeping compassionate, personalized care close to home. As more families choose to make the lake their full-time home, this expansion means the care we count on grows right along with us.

And St. Mary's is making a celebration of it - expect food, fun, and giveaways alongside hospital leaders, community partners, and neighbors marking the start of this exciting new chapter. Ceremonies like this one are how you watch your community's future being built in real time. We hope to see you there.

High-Level Care. Higher-Level Caring.

Whether you grabbed one of those first tables back at The Dining Room, danced to the Medallions on Main Street, or plan to stand alongside your neighbors Monday morning as St. Mary's breaks ground, thank you for being part of a lake that never sits still for long.

Summer is in full swing. Do not let it swing by without you.

See you out there,
