Good morning, and happy almost-Fourth!
Before we dive into everything happening this weekend, I want to take a moment to share something that has been on my heart.
This year, Lake Oconee Life turns eight. And I have been thinking a lot about where we started and how far we have come together.
It began in January 2018 with a simple idea: Lake Oconee needed a digital home. A place where locals could find out what was happening, where venues could check the calendar before booking so events didn't overlap, and where visitors could feel like they already belonged before they ever arrived. The event calendar was the heartbeat of it all.
From there, things grew in ways I never quite expected. Our social media community grew to over 21,000 followers. The newsletter found its name, The LO Down, and now lands in the inboxes of more than 7,000 subscribers every week. The little five-inch square Local's Guide Books came next, and honestly, some of you collect them, which still makes me smile every time I hear it. We added shared EDDM mailers to reach even more of our neighbors, launched campaigns and giveaways to connect people with the local businesses that make this place run, and let's just say... LO Eats is coming back in a whole new way. More on that soon. π
And here's a little something to put on your radar: 2027 Local's Guide enrollment opens July 1st. If you are a business owner who wants to be part of what is coming next, stay tuned.
Eight years. One community. So much more ahead.
Now, let's talk about this weekend. It is going to be a good one.

Speaking of sipping⦠they have rolled out a special Summer Festival cocktail menu for the day only: Adult Capri Suns, Watermelon Vodka Lemonade, Piña Colada, and Margarita. One day, one menu, no repeats.

Table at the Lake Guest Chef Series: Puma Yu's
If you have been following Table at the Lake's Guest Chef Series, you already know these dinners sell out for good reason. This Sunday, Chef Casey and the team are welcoming Chef Pete Amadhanirundr and Ally Smith of Puma Yu's out of Athens and this one feels special even by their standards.
Chef Pete is a James Beardβnominated chef whose cooking is rooted in Thai flavors and shaped by a modern, ingredient-driven approach. Together with Ally, Puma Yu's has earned a reputation for food and cocktails that are vibrant, personal, and genuinely memorable. For one night, both kitchens come together for a family-style communal dinner inspired by the spirit of Thai New Year β think shared plates, snacks for the table, collaborative entrΓ©es, desserts, and cocktails from both teams, passed around and savored together.
Seats are limited and pre-payment is required to hold your spot. This is not one to sit on.
However you spend this Fourth of July weekend, on the water, at the bash, around the table, or watching fireworks light up the sky, I hope it feels like exactly where you are supposed to be.
See you out there. π§¨
