Good morning!
There is something I have come to believe after years of living, working, and writing about life at Lake Oconee. The best things around here are not built by accident. They are built because people keep showing up.
Showing up for the hospital that takes care of our families. Showing up for the kids who deserve a great summer. Showing up for the local businesses that keep our cars running, our yards green, and our weekends easy. Showing up downtown on a Friday night because the music is good and the company is better.
This week's LO Down is packed with all of it. Morgan Medical Center is reminding us how Georgia HEART lets us invest right here at home. Downtown Greensboro is throwing a free block party tomorrow night with Mixtape live on Main Street. Camps are closing out their summer registrations. Freedom Boat Club is expanding to Lake Sinclair. And there is enough trivia, jazz, and good food on the calendar to keep every night of the week interesting.
Pour your coffee, settle in, and let's go see what's worth showing up for this week.

This Week's LO Down Is Brought to You by Morgan Medical Center
Keep Your Tax Dollars Local. Save Lives.
Here is something worth knowing if you live on the Morgan County side of the lake, or if you own a business in our community. You actually have a say in where your Georgia state income tax dollars go. And right now, you can send them right back home.
Through the Georgia HEART Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program, individuals and businesses can redirect state income tax dollars to Morgan Medical Center and receive a 100 percent state income tax credit in return. That means supporting the hospital that serves our neighbors, our families, and our friends comes at no added cost to you.
Since 2017, contributions through Georgia HEART have helped Morgan Medical Center bring in 3D mammography, advanced surgical technology including the Mako SmartRobotics system, expanded specialty surgical care, and modernized patient systems. That is real impact, right here at home.
Applications for the 2026 tax year are open now. Individuals can contribute up to $10,000 filing jointly, and business owners have even higher limits worth a conversation with your accountant.
Visit morganmedical.org/rural-hospital-tax-credit to learn more, apply through Georgia HEART, or call Megan Morris at (706) 752-2237 with questions.
Downtown Greensboro
Tomorrow Night: Mixtape Takes Over Downtown Greensboro
Clear the calendar, because tomorrow night Downtown Greensboro is turning back the clock. Mixtape, the ultimate 80s and 90s cover band, takes the stage on North Main Street for a high-energy night of throwback hits, food trucks, and small-town fun.
This one is free, open to all, and made for showing up in your best neon, denim, or grunge. Grab a drink from one of the local restaurants in the entertainment district, stroll the festivities, and settle in for a night of music that practically begs you to sing along.
A tip from us: seating is limited, so bring a chair and stake out your spot early. The lights, the music, and the energy of a downtown summer evening are exactly the kind of night that reminds you why we love living right here.
We will see you on Main Street!

Summer Camps at Lake Oconee
Summer Camp Season Is Almost Here
If you are still figuring out what the kids are doing this summer, we have done some of the legwork for you. Lake Oconee Life has put together a comprehensive Summer Camp Guide featuring some great local options, and registration fills up faster than you think.

LO Cheer Co. brings the energy all summer with Tumbling Camps and Performance Camps running throughout June and July. Whether your child is just getting started or ready to level up, these camps are a fantastic way to build skills and confidence in a fun, supportive environment.
Wakeboarding Summer Camps are exactly what they sound like, and they are every bit as cool. With multiple sessions kicking off at the end of May and running through July, this one is a bucket list summer experience for kids who love the water.

Freedom Boat Club
One Membership. Two Lakes. Endless Memories.
Freedom Boat Club is expanding, and the news is worth celebrating. Beginning around June 4, members will enjoy access to both Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair through a single Freedom Boat Club membership. More water, more destinations, more reasons to spend the day together on the lake.
The new Lake Sinclair location, based at Lake Sinclair Marina, will be owned and operated by Deano and Heather Cantrell. For 11 years, the Cantrells have run Freedom Boat Club's Lake Oconee operations, building a reputation for well-kept boats, an easy day on the water, and a community of members who simply love being out there.
If you have ever wanted the boating life without the maintenance, storage, cleaning, or insurance headaches, this is your sign. Show up, step aboard, and enjoy the day.
To learn more about membership, reach out to David Leeseberg at (706) 749-7600 or [email protected].

That is the thing about life at Lake Oconee. The calendar is only as full as we make it, and the community is only as strong as we show up to make it.
So go to the concert tomorrow night. Sign your kids up for that camp before it fills. Schedule the appointment, donate the blood, support the local business, redirect the tax dollars, raise a glass at trivia night. Every small "yes" adds up.
We will see you out there on Main Street, on the water, or wherever this week takes you.
